You want to lose weight? Get healthy? Make lifestyle changes? Well, I’ve got news for you…it’s not easy. In fact, it can be pretty dang hard most of the time. Hate to break it to ya, but there are no magic pills, magic diets, or magic creams that you can rub on at night and be 10 lbs lighter in the morning. It just doesn’t work that way!! There are 3500 calories in 1 lb. Just to put it into perspective, a burger, fries, and shake can come in at over 1000 calories. Running for an hour will burn maybe 500 calories. It’s a lot easier and definitely more enjoyable to put down that meal than to put on your running shoes. No wonder so many people are overweight these days! It really is simple math. Calories going in have to be less than calories going out.
To lose weight you have to be dedicated and serious. You have to know what you want and why you want it, set realist goals, and work your behind off to get it. One way that I have found helpful in avoiding eating too much sugary goodness was to change my environment. It was so easy to snack on cookie dough, ice cream, and candy when it was around the house all the time…especially around the holidays. It was just sitting there waiting to be eaten! My husband mentioned to me that it might be a good idea to just get rid of all the junk. What a fabulous idea! Of course I already knew this…but let’s face it…I LOVE chocolate. It was hard for me to throw away candy, cookie dough and ice cream. But you know what? Once it was gone I couldn’t eat it anymore! You can do this too. If you are serious about a lifestyle change you need to change the environment around you. Get rid of the junk food! Have fruits and veggies readily available to snack on. Am I saying avoid all sugary goodness? Heck no?! In fact, last night we had family over and ate brownies and ice cream. Healthy? No. Amazingly good? Yes! It’s okay to indulge every once in awhile. Just make it a treat for special occasions. Ready to get serious about this? Get rid of the junk!
